Jefferson Stein is a filmmaker from Texas based in Los Angeles who creates intimate stories on a grand cinematic scale—finding sweeping visual scope in small human moments. His short film Tumble Dry Low screened at Seattle, Maryland, and Tallinn Black Nights, was selected for the SHOOT New Directors Showcase, and garnered 2.5 million views on YouTube. His follow-up, Burros, was produced by Film Independent Spirit Award winner Liz Cardenas and executive produced by Eva Longoria. The film premiered at Tribeca, qualified for the Academy Awards, and screened at over 70 festivals, winning 19 awards. Burros was screened by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the National Gallery of Art, and the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in 2025.
